This model, 'The Opoutere Learning Journey', was developed by the staff at Opoutere School. This constructivist approach was based on models such as Eisenberg and Berkowitz's (2004) ‘Big6™', Jamie McKenzie's (2000) ‘Research Cycle' and Trevor Bond's (2001) ‘SAUCE'. Staff  trialled implementation of the ‘The Opoutere Learning Journey' in their classrooms then modifications were made to arrive at the present model.

Tip:

When teachers trialled this model they found students were having difficulty applying it independently. They found that making a visual representation of the model aided independent implementation. This idea was inspired by the work at Aberdeen School.
