What are the crates?

We provide parents and caregivers of children under 5 years old with the planning and some of the resources required to undertake educational activities with children in their care. Resources are all sent in "crates" each month and will have at least 30 activities to allow for one educational activity a day. Each new crate is sent out at the end of the month to be ready for the 1st of the following month. You can change which type of crate you wish to order with 1 months notice.

What is in the Introductory Crate?

Are Activities Related to Events Like Xmas included?

Crates may recognise public holidays and important cultural events observed in New Zealand in that they may have some activities associated with that holiday. For example creating a tree ornament during December, or making a poppy wreath in April, but will not have a religious focus, rather it will be a secular version of the holiday. If you would like to receive a crate that does not observe a holiday at all you will need to email us in advance giving at least 2 months notice so we can provide alternative activities.
Events that may be recognised in activities:
  • Waitangi Day
  • Easter
  • ANZAC Day
  • Matariki
  • Halloween
  • Christmas

How Does it Work?

Each month we will send a crate (box) that will have at least 30 activities covering a variety of learning areas. Each of the activities will have a learning plan and any items not considered household items or basic equipment (eg scissors, glue etc will not be supplied but will be included in the introductory pack). The learning plan will include learning outcomes, a list of household items and basic equipment required for the activity, discussion topics, and areas of extension if needed. It will also include most of the non-household items required for the activities.

What Things are Considered Household Items?

These are things most homes will already have and we will not be supplying. Some of the non-food items are available in in our Introductory Kit. See the list here.

What if I have 2 or more children in the same age group?

You can purchase a booster pack for that month. This does not include the activity sheets but includes the physical items included in a pack. You can also obtain a subscription to these packs.

What is the Postage Cost?

Postage within New Zealand varies according to the price of items and whether they are tracked and/or rural delivery. These costs can be seen at checkout. Postage .
